Firearms Related Offences Started As A Reported Dine and Dash
An initial report of a dine and dash in Quinte West has led to serious charges, including firearms related counts.
On July 7, 2024, members of Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a theft from a local restaurant, where three parties left without paying, and stole tableware. The individuals were also involved in a single vehicle collision, with their vehicle leaving the ro ad and entering the ditch.
Three people were arrested and a loaded firearm was seized.
Tara GAGE, age 26 of Oshawa was charged with:
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Theft Under $5000
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Food and lodging fraud
- Failure to comply with an undertaking
- Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt
Nathan LOPEZ, age 26 of Toronto was charged with:
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Theft Under $5000
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Food and lodging fraud
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt< /ul>Andrew VIVIAN, age 19 of Clarington was charged with:
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Theft Under $5000
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Food and lodging fraud
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt
All three accused remain in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled this week before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
